Frequently asked Questions about our classes, what to bring, and what to expect

FAQ's

01

What to Bring?

-Closed toed shoes (riding boots preferred)

-Jeans or Breeches

-Well fitted shirt (something that can't get hung up on equipment)

-Water bottle

-Sunblock (bug-spray during Rainy season)

-Treats for horses after riding! (optional)

03

What is better for beginners, English or Western?

We feel when first starting, Western tack tends to feel more secure to students. Once they get their balance they can freely choose which discipline they would like to focus on. Or continue in both!

05

Do you ride in the rain? or is class canceled?

Rains are a common thing for about 6mo out of the year. We do occasionally ride in the rain.

Typically we use rainy days as an opportunity to do un-mounted learning. There is so much you can learn even off the horse!

We do cancel class if there is lightning and/or its raining so hard students cant hear instructions.

07

What do they do in the hour of class time?

Students are required to get there horse ready at the beginning of class.

They ride and work on level appropriate skills, occasionally play games, and have fun!

If need be, after class, they will rinse the horse off and care for their lesson horse.

09

How often should I ride?

Horseback riding is a sport, the more often you ride the better you will become. We like to use the bike riding analogy.. If you tried to learn how to ride a bike in one hour a week, how long would it take you to learn to ride a bike?

That being said Horseback riding is an expensive sport so economics and the students level of interest all come into play. Ultimately, it depends on your individual circumstances as to how many days a week you are able to ride. And that is 100% okay.

02

Do you teach English or Western?

We offer both! And we offer Jumping and Barrel Racing to eligible students

04

Will I always ride the same horse? or a different one every time?

We typically try to always give beginners the same horse. It helps them become comfortable and develop a relationship. This might not always be possible when riding multiple days a week.

06

How long are classes?

Classes are an Hour long. Jumping and Barrel racing students are asked to come early in order to have extra time to get their horse ready for class.

08

What Language can you teach in?

We are completely fluent in both English and Spanish. Brandy, the instructor, typically speaks in whatever language the student is most comfortable with.
